College Dorm Checklist was born out of my own need when I was entering college. I had completed my college applications, gotten accepted into a school of my choice, and was soon facing my move away from my parents' house to my dorm room. Only problem was, I'd never lived on my own before. I wasn't sure what I needed to take with me, and much of the information I found online was simply companies trying to sell me something.
I created this site to take the guesswork out of packing for college. On this site, you'll find a comprehensive list of everything you'll need during your first year. On that list, you'll find links for most (soon to be all) of the items to pages that explain exactly what kind of item or brand works best. All this information comes from my own personal experience, not a salesman trying to take your money.

My name is Joel, and I'm a senior Electrical Engineering major. School takes up a lot of my time, but not all of it. Every now and then I find the time to write on this site's blog, and keep up with your comments and emails. When I'm not doing these things, you can find me riding my motorcycle, running, or hiking in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
